“He [Mr Spencer] was in effect looking for an escort to come to his house that evening, to spend some time with him, and it was clear that drugs were going to be available,” Mr Finch told the jury.

“Mr Dayney was insistent that she [Ms Lorang-Goubran] drive him to Mr Spencer’s house and he made it clear to her that he was going to ‘take his shit’ – referring to Mr Spencer’s drugs or money.”

Ms Lorang-Goubran drove Mr Dayney to Mr Spencer’s house, but on the way, Mr Dayney told her to stop the car, at which point he allegedly got out and used a shirt to cover his face.

Once at the victim’s house, Ms Lorang-Goubran went inside, exchanged pleasantries with Mr Spencer and they sat in the lounge together.

“[Suddenly] Ms Lorang-Goubran felt the weight of Mr Spencer’s body fall forcibly back into her. She looked up and she saw Mr Dayney standing at the edge of the lounge,” Mr Finch told the jury.

“She saw Mr Dayney strike another blow to Mr Spencer. After that, Mr Spencer made an attempt to get to his feet … and she [Ms Lorang-Goubran] panicked and ran outside.

“The last she saw was Mr Spencer and Mr Dayney coming together in a type of wrestle.”

Mr Finch said Mr Spencer’s housemate was woken by a commotion and looked out to the rear patio, where he saw a man, with his face covered, hitting something on the ground with an object.
