Several people say they have tested positive from New Year’s parties across the state, as COVID clinics that were shut are expected to reopen to help with the testing surge.

Across Queensland, dozens have reported they experienced flu-like symptoms after attending New Year’s events.

Several people posted online they have tested positive from the Eatons Hill Hotel New Year’s Foam Party.

The Eatons Hill Hotel, north of Brisbane, has reported some attendees of the New Year’s Day party have returned a positive result.

Several people have since posted online they have tested positive.

“If you were in attendance, please monitor for symptoms, should they occur please isolate and get tested,” the hotel wrote online.

“We would like to assure you that we have advised all staff who worked at the event to monitor for symptoms and not attend work if they experience any.”

In Cherbourg, an indigenous community with low vaccination rates where there are now 90 cases as part of a growing cluster, there were warnings to get tested if people had symptoms after attending a NYE event at the Royal Hotel in Murgon from 9pm to 1am.

Early on Wednesday morning, there were lengthy queues at COVID testing sites, including at Ashgrove, where people were lining up from 3am. The site did not open until 7am.
