About 800 children would be vaccinated at Brisbane’s Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday, Ms Palaszczuk said.
On Sunday, as Queensland recorded 18,000 cases with more than 80,000 active infections, Ms Palaszczuk announced schools would be closed an extra two weeks, with the first term of 2022 to begin on February 7 instead of January 24.
Years 11 and 12 students would begin home learning from January 31, while the school year would end on December 16, instead of December 9.
The later start, announced to prevent children being back at school during the Omicron peak expected in late January to early February, would allow more time for parents to get their children vaccinated.
