Television groom’s quest for fame pays off

Married At First Sight’s newest groom Dion Giannarelli made his television debut last week, however, Emerald City can reveal his pursuit for fame started well before his pursuit for ‘love’.

For years the 34-year-old property developer from Melbourne’s well-heeled Brighton has sought out stardom both in Australia and internationally.

Prior to rising to fame on MAFS, Dion was in talks with NBCUniversal in 2018.

In 2018, the aspiring reality star told friends he was in talks with NBC Universal media in Los Angeles for his own real estate reality show titled ‘Dealing with Dion’. At the time, he frequently used the hashtag #DealingWithDion on social media.

The property show never eventuated, but he had also set his sights on creating an online cooking series Cooking With Dion Giannarelli, before scoring a position on the controversial dating show.

“Good on him, he’s coming off really well, you can tell he’s won over viewers,” an associate told Emerald City. “I’d say his portrayal on MAFS is a true representation of the Dion I know.“

Despite only having a brief amount of airtime, television producers seem to think he’s ‘reality gold’ as Emerald City can reveal he’s set to appear as an intruder in the upcoming season of Celebrity Apprentice alongside singer Samantha Jade, Actor Vince Colossimo and actress Jodi Gordon.

Sydney set to say Goodbye to The Bachelor and Bachelorette

Just when we thought we had seen the last of The Bachelor and Bachelorette Australia on our screens, think again.

Brooke Burton was Australia’s first is The Bachelorette.

Emerald City is told the Network Ten reality dating show is leaving the picturesque surrounds of the Harbour City and relocating production to Queensland. Well-placed production staff have revealed filming the show in Sydney has run its course. From repetitive dates shown each season to continually getting ‘papped’ by photographers the once-loved program has become too predictable for viewers.

While Warner Bros, the production company behind The Bachelor and Bachelorette Australia franchise, are understood to be scouting talent, a new leading lady or gent is yet to be announced.

Perhaps moving the show to the sunny Gold Coast will be the facelift the show needs?

The two series have seen significant drops in ratings over the years. Even last year’s first-ever bisexual Bachelorette, with male and female contestants vying for the affection of Brooke Blurton, failed to give a ratings boost in what was perceived by some to be a last-ditch attempt at winning viewers.

The show struggled with numbers each week and only 439,000 metro viewers tuned in for the final 15 minutes of the show’s finale.

Network Ten were forced to deny claims the show was set for cancellation after enduring the lowest ratings in its eight-year history.
