Two bodies found chained together in a Queensland dam could have been weighted, police say, as detectives released the identity of the man.
A kayaker found the bodies, floating about five metres from shore, at 3.30pm on Saturday at Gordonbrook Dam, about 170 kilometres north-west of Brisbane.
Police said one of the bodies was a man from the Kingaroy area named Darryl Smith, while the woman was yet to be identified.
On Sunday, police said the bodies were believed to be those of a local couple – a man in his 50s and a woman in her late 40s – and detective appealed for the public for further information regarding the deaths.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said a white Holden Commodore owned by the pair had been parked at the dam since at least March 13.
Their deaths were being treated as non-suspicious and police were not looking for a third person involved, but Sergeant McCusker said detectives were keeping an open mind about the incident.
“What I can tell you is the two people were connected by a chain,” he said.
“There is a suggestion they may have been weighted at that time, yes.
