The Bureau of Meteorology issued a minor flood warning for Brisbane City late on Thursday, with a major flood warning still in place for Warrill Creek and the Bremer River near Ipswich.
Heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding were forecast for the early hours of Friday, as the bureau warned there could be six-hourly rainfall totals of between 100 and 160 millimetres in the Wide Bay and Burnett regions.
Areas that may be affected include Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Maroochydore, Gympie, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Kingaroy, Caboolture and Gatton.
The bureau said its gauges had recorded more than 120 millimetres in some areas in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Major flood warnings are current across the Logan River, Condamine River, Cape River, Cooper Creek, Warrill Creek and Bremer River, Laidley and Lockyer Creeks.
A minor flood warning was also issued for the Lower Brisbane River.
Several other moderate and minor flood warnings have also been issued by the weather bureau.
Emergency services rescued several people overnight, including a man whose vehicle was stuck in flood water on Obum Obum Road at 5.30am and another in Silverdale, near Boonah.
At Oxley, in Brisbane’s south, paramedics were called to a man stuck in floodwaters in his vehicle on Oxley Golf Driving Range about 4.20am. He was rescued and did not need treatment.
A woman and a young child were also taken to Emerald Hospital after being stuck between rising flood waters on the Capricorn Highway near Glenlee Road at 6pm on Thursday night.
Another vehicle was found submerged on Noosa Road and Sunray Road about 12.15am at Mothar Mountain, near Gympie, but the person declined paramedic assessment.
