“It’s easy to forget that Shafali is 17 years old,” she said. “Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks she is a bit more comfortable up there. She just needs to give herself a little bit more time.”
Perry posted an unbeaten half-century of 50 balls, but it was not enough. Perry said she would be spending time this week trying to become more comfortable at No.4 and increase her strike rate.
“I’m still finding my feet there because I haven’t really particularly quick with my strike rate,” she said. “The key for us, the last two matches we got off to some pretty poor starts. We just need to be a bit better there.”
Perry said the new batting order would also be looked at, with the Sixers adopting a motto of flexibility this year.
“I can’t fault the girls’ attitude towards everything but, hopefully, it clicks a bit more for us,” she said.
“We’ve been really clear on trying to play match-ups and conditions this year. So there’s a bit more flexibility in what we are doing compared to previous years. We will probably have a look when we get to Perth.”
